The flow channel design plays a vital role in plastic auto parts molds. It directly affects the fluidity, filling conditions and quality of the final parts during the injection molding process.
Runner type selection: At the beginning of runner design, designers need to select appropriate runner types to accommodate components of different shapes and sizes. Common flow channel types include linear flow channels, annular flow channels, lattice flow channels, etc. Selecting the appropriate runner type depends on the geometry of the part and the structure of the mold.
Runner position: The position of the runner has a direct impact on the filling of plastic materials and the performance of the final parts. Designers need to accurately determine the position of the flow channel to ensure that the plastic flows evenly in the mold and avoid problems such as bubbles and short charging.
Flow channel size design: The size of the flow channel is directly related to the flow rate and filling time of the plastic material. Designers need to determine the size of the flow channel by considering factors such as the melting point and viscosity of the plastic to achieve the best injection molding filling effect.
Combined design of cooling channel and runner: The design of the runner must take into consideration the combination with the cooling system to ensure that the plastic material can be properly cooled during the injection molding process. The location and size of the cooling channels need to be coordinated with the flow channels to improve production efficiency and the quality of the final part.
Split channel system design: In some cases, in order to ensure uniform filling of large, complex parts, designers may use a split channel system. This means designing multiple branches in the runner to guide the plastic material to fill more evenly in the mold.
Temperature control: A temperature control system needs to be considered in the flow channel design to ensure that the plastic material in the flow channel flows at the appropriate temperature. By precisely controlling the temperature, problems such as unstable flow and uneven cooling of plastic materials can be avoided.
Runner Wall Thickness Design: Runner wall thickness is also an important design consideration. Appropriate wall thickness ensures the strength and wear resistance of the flow channel while minimizing resistance to the flow of plastic materials.
Flow channel shape design: The shape of the flow channel has a direct impact on the flow pattern of plastic materials. Designers need to choose the appropriate flow channel shape to reduce flow resistance, improve filling uniformity, and avoid plastic dead ends or dead areas in the flow channel.
Mold exit design: The end part of the runner needs to be designed with a suitable exit to ensure that the plastic material can smoothly enter all parts of the component after filling to avoid weld marks or other defects.
