The injection molding process of plastic die-casting molds is the core step in manufacturing high-quality plastic products. It includes key stages such as mold closing, plastic melting, injection molding, cooling and demoulding.

Mold closed

The first step in the injection molding process is to close the two halves of the mold into a sealed cavity. The shape and size of this cavity determines the shape of the final plastic part. Mold closure needs to ensure a precise fit and stable pressure to prevent plastic from leaking during the injection process.

Once the mold is closed, what follows is a process of heating the plastic to a molten state. In injection molding machinery, solid plastic particles are heated by a heater in a heating cylinder and melted into a flowable melt. The heating process needs to control the appropriate temperature to ensure that the plastic is fully melted and reaches appropriate fluidity.

After the plastic reaches a molten state, the injection molding machine injects the molten plastic into the cavity of the mold through high pressure. Injection molding machinery includes a screw that rotates and pushes plastic from a heated barrel into the mold cavity. The movement of the screw is regulated by the control system to ensure the accuracy and stability of the injection process.

Fill mold

After the injection molding machine injects the plastic, the plastic in the mold cavity fills the entire cavity and fills the shape in the mold. The mold filling process requires precise control of injection time, pressure and flow rate to ensure complete and uniform plastic filling and avoid defects such as bubbles and short material.

Once the mold cavity is filled, a cooling phase follows. There is a cooling system inside the mold, usually using cooling water or cooling oil, to quickly cool the plastic and make it transition from a molten state to a solid state. The speed and uniformity of cooling are critical to the quality of the final product.

Plastic solidifies

During the cooling process, the plastic gradually solidifies into a solid state. The control of cooling time has a direct impact on the dimensional stability and surface quality of the final product. Proper cooling time ensures that the size and shape of the final product are consistent with the mold design.

Demolding and post-processing

After cooling is completed, the mold is opened and the formed plastic product is taken out of the mold. This process is called demolding. Demolding needs to ensure the integrity and surface quality of the product, and is usually performed by robotic arms or other automated equipment.

Post-processing

After demoulding, some post-processing steps may be required, such as trimming, sanding, painting, etc., to meet the appearance and functional requirements of the final product.
